'Noise Bleed on Carpet' features two brand new songs by Múm, the Icelandic band whose album 'Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today is OK' has achieved "current classic" status amongst fans of that serious modern instrumental thang that's all the current rage these days (imagine that). 'On the Old Mountain Range' is rather still and organic, while 'Please Sing My Reverb' is somewhat reminiscent of the gritty melancholia of Arovane, EU, and Accelera Deck. By themselves, these two tracks would've made for a fairly admirable 12". However, Múm have chosen to release them as part of a remix album, where the two originals were passed on to six artists releasing material on the increasingly successful Morr label (the output of which falls pretty much in the same category as Múm's own music) to be remade into something new. Unfortunately, of these six artists, five decided to work with the same track, the electronica-oriented 'Please Sing My Reverb', and, because of this, the album (if you can call it that) has become quite monotonous to listen to as a whole. None of the 'Please Sing My Reverb' remixes do more than add a little cosmetic surgery, with the exception of the rather pretty AMX (Arovane) one. The one remix of 'On the Old Mountain Range' is also less than adventurous. The result, therefore, is an album that's fit for completists only. If you feel less of a necessity to add every Múm remix in existence to your collection, you'd better pray Morr will release the two originals (possibly adding the AMX remix for kicks) on a separate EP.
