And all of a sudden there was a new singer-songwriter, sharing his songs and thoughts with everyone who wanted to hear them. And standing on stage with a voice that must come close to how an angel would sound. He touched whole audiences with a guitar and some samples. Just one man, the long and a bit thin Ben Christophers, who always appeared so shy and maybe even fragile. Just like the songs on his debut album 'My Beautiful Demon'. But after this release and the regular touring, it appeared Ben had problems writing new songs for the follow-up. To KindaMuzik, he spoke about moments of sheer hell. But in the same interview he already revealed how it would sound: "I want to test myself a little and bring up the tempo with some things and have some gloriously heavy sounds as well. There will also be some very stripped-down songs, I'm hoping to have a few songs on the piano as well." Well, he was telling the truth. 'Spoonface' starts with 'Leaving My Sorrow Behind', with its distorted voice, some heavy bass, and a much poppier sound than before. The same goes for the uptempo 'Transatlantic Shooting Stars', and even the soft-starting 'Easter Park' is heading towards a noisy climax. But a small majority of the album is still prolonging the familiar sound: mysterious and warm. He merely touches the piano on 'Falls into View'; he strokes it. Altogether, a record that even makes the autumn seem beautiful.
