We have tried but we have not been able to track down one single flaw on this new album from Garza and Hilton. True, there is not really that much progression in comparison to their earlier works. But that need not necessarily be a bad thing with those near perfect arrangements and the dreamy and exotic ambiance inhabiting the Thievery's universe of slow blunted beats, reggae basslines and -something that is new- some fine songwriting. To that aim there are numerous guest appearances by Emiliana Torrini, Shinehead & Sleepy Wonder, Notch, Patrick de Santos and Vernie Verela, while the familiar voices from their previous album, Loulou and Pam Bricker, complete the picture of an almost exclusive vocal approach. On the instrumental front there is an abundance of eastern sounds and the custom reggae and rocksteady horns samples are all in finer shape than ever. It may be thievery but it is also the epitome of what good lounge music is about.
