The Donnas turn 21, so it's time to party. And what better way than with sex, drugs and some old-fashioned rock 'n' roll? Not that the Donnas ever did anything else, although they seem to mainly stick to alcohol in the drug department. They more than compensate for that in the sex department though. And I don't think '40 Boys In 40 Nights' is possible on heroin anyway. By now it should be clear the Donnas are not about good taste, as can be expected from girls who like Oranjeboom beer ("I'm sitting all alone in my room / With no one to share my Oranjeboom" - 'Midnite Snack'. And yes, "Oranjeboom" does rhyme with "room". At least it does when you're American) and whose favourite bands include Kiss and Poison. Yes, the Donnas make Stupid Hardrock. In fact they put the US of A back on the Stupid Hardrock map, on which they are nowhere near the superpower they once were. I mean, the stuff Bon Jovi and Aerosmith made has more to do with soft pop than with genuine, honest Stupid Hardrock. Meanwhile the Scandinavians took over with such acts as Gluecifer and the Hellacopters. The Donnas are not as good as those bands (yet), but they do have riffs you'd swear you've heard before, fist-in-the-air shout along choruses, solos that scream for air-guitar playing and, most important of all, NO lighter ballads. So, not a bad album. In a Stupid Hardrock kind of way.
