If I owned the three videotapes that are collected on the Chaos DVD, I wouldn't bother buying the DVD. If I like Sepultura and like buying DVDs, I might consider it.
The Chaos DVD has the material off of three videotapes: Under Siege, Third World Chaos, and We Are What We Are. Under Siege is a live show from 1991 in Barcelona, with interview parts between the songs. Third World Chaos (1995) is a combination of video clips (such as 'Slave New World' and 'Refuse/Resist'), live songs performed at festivals, and interview material. We Are What We Are (1997) is nothing more than the three video clips 'Roots Bloody Roots,' 'Ratamahatta,' and 'Attitude,' talked together by the band.
It's an okay DVD, but it doesn't live up to the potential it has. What I miss most is a function to switch between watching the music and watching the interview parts. The interview parts are on the same track as the songs, and, therefore, if I want to listen to just the music, I have to push the forward button every time a song finishes. And it works the other way, too: If I want to see the interview, I have to search the tracks where Max and past-days friends are talking.
The sound and image quality are fine. Watching the DVD you can feel a little bit of the energy of a concert and especially of a festival (on Third World Chaos). The interviews are interesting, and it's cool to watch it sometimes. It's nice to have the three video clips on We Are What We Are, but there could have been much more.
I don't mind having the DVD, but I don't think I would buy it. Too bad the moneymakers decided to spend as littlet as possible by just digitizing the existing videos, adding a little menu, and pressing it onto disc. It could have been so much more.
