This sampler serves as support for the Roadrage tour that is currently going around Europe. The three bands on this CD have all been given room for two songs and a video clip. Killswitch Engage heads off with 'My Last Serenade.' The band combines both authentic and nu-metal influences. 'Old' are some of the guitar riffs and Maiden licks; 'New' are the vocals and the sound. The result? Well, Killswitch Engage is far more distinct than all of the other nu-metal bands. I wouldn't mind checking out their album.
36 Crazyfists, however, reminds me of most of their colleagues. No matter how hard the band seems to try. Just the predictable dynamics in both the music and the vocals immediately put the band in the superfluous nu-metal section. The constant switching between melody and mayhem annoys the hell out of me. Make up your minds!
Five Pointe O is somewhere in-between the aforementioned bands. With a hint of Visions Of Disorder, groovy riffs, and choruses played like they mean it, Five Pointe O have their moments. But again, the numerous different song parts and five different ways of singing do not contribute anything other than time to the songs. The first song, 'King Of The Hill,' would have been okay if it had been around three minutes long — not five (point O2).
