Beware all skate-punk people out there. The pioneers from Sweden's Orebo are back with a devastating new album. It's the 14 songs "Pennybridge Pioneers". Again on the Epitaph-Burning Heart label. It has been a long time listening to a sound like this, which gives me the shivers of the past punk days again. Millencolin is on the road for many years, as all die hards would know, and hasn't forgotten how to record a damn good album. This time with Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz contribution. Actually I've got one word for it; Punk-control. Okay, cut the crap and review the album. The opening of the cd is straight to the point with the song 'No Cigar' which probably sounds pretty familiar, but it really hits the strings. Followed by a song called 'Fox'. As with most punk bands, their songs are about simple things in life. Well, 'Fox' is one of them. It's this dude talking about a car or is he referring to a hundred kilos girl. For his sake I hope it's not the latter one. Anyway, it rocks. I could go on and on about all album tracks but the one that had hit me is 'Penguins & Polarbears'. It's a melodic song with a great guitar playing style and don't forget to mention the lyrics on this on. Next to this one they recorded 'Highway Donkey' and 'Pepper'. These are the more aggressive ones which a whole crew can slam on. Especially 'Pepper' when it is up your ass. It is a little bit too bad not all songs are like that. The last song on 'Pennybridge Pioneers' is more like a cooling down on this album. It's named 'The Ballad' and is a real chill out song with straight good guitar riffs, somewhere in the middle of the song. Superb. Although Millencolin's new release is sometimes a bit soft, after a while you start feeling what's it all about. Check this one out!
