Danko Jones is an asshole. He even admits so himself. "I got a soul on ice and I'm frozen to the bone." It's not that he's born that way, it's just that he's mistreated by too many evil, heartless women. And that ain't gonna happen to him anymore. Oh no, Mr. Jones won't 'Play The Blues' no more.

No, what he plays is rock 'n' roll of the boogie kind. Because "When you shake your booty babe, you get me so hot." That is, until the next morning, when a new city and new women await.

To make those booties shake, Danko hired the tightest rhythm section he could find in the Arctic wastelands of his native Canada. Then he went into the practice room with bassist John Calabrese and drummer Damon Richardson, and they practiced all through the Canadian winter. And when they came out for skirt/hunting season, they had developed a groove that makes AC/DC sound like sloppy indie rock whiners.

And with the testosterone levels still surging from being locked up all winter, they recorded Born A Lion, an attempt at the ultimate cockrock album. And they do get damn close. The killer grooves keep coming non-stop, and Danko shouts his macho lyrics with a voice that cracks from arousal. This man got but one thing one his mind. This man's ready to take on the world. And he doesn't believe in love.

"If the good Lord wants to strike me down tonight and I haven't found my true love, I'm gonna die a happy man!"
