Most of the experimental pop music is from Belgium, and so is Coem. Hasselt to be precise. And with their second album 'Bandwi(d)thconsiderations' they've tried to jump from a beautiful melody to some noise and easy listening. But it's not comparable to bands like dEUS and Zita Swoon, because Coem doesn't make songs with head and tail. Although you can find a little exception in this with the opening track (and not surprisingly their single) 'How I Remember'. The singing is mixed to the background most of the time, that's why 'The Absurd Story of O-a-mi-nadia' is such an extraordinary piece of action on the album. The loud repeating of the phrase "O-a-mi-nadia" also returns in the instrumental afterwards. Sometimes acoustic and intimate and sometimes filthy and raw. There is a lot of space for rehearsal of tunes and sentences. Like the "I can never be sober" in 'Country Code' and the "better than me, hello" in 'Small Signals'. And the stuttering sound in 'Ready For Love' made me think the CD was stuck. But it's all part of the mysterious threatening sound of 'Bandwi(d)thconsiderations', which really needs a few spins to show what it's really all about.
