Zoppo | Belgian Style Pop

Already discovered by TKMYL a few months ago when the Dutch Zoppo appeared on a split 7" called 'Last Laugh Is Guffah'. But now it's time for a review of their collected recordings (jan '98-jan '99) called 'Belgian Style Pop'. Why now? Because Zoppo is going to be one of the hot bands this year! They have proven this by their performance at the Noorderslag festival earlier this year. Their disc is covered with a big fat lofi-charme! All songs are recorded on 4 track, probably in a band members living room. This is what gives the songs a great atmosphere. The songs are filled with experiments, both with instruments and with electronics. There is a nice variation in tension in the songs, also because of the exciting atmosphere between the male and the female singer.
I'm not going to compare these guys with an other band, because they have their own style. So all you lofi-lovers, go and listen!
