When 'Tango 'n Vectif' was released in 1993 it hit like a bomb. It was an instant classic that set the standard for the very young IDM scene of those days. Eight years later, the music of Mike Paradinas still sounds remarkably fresh, and it hasn't lost anything of its innovating power. Mu-ziq was, together with soulmate and partner in crime Richard D. James, the first to make such extraordinary electronic gems with complex rhythm structures, alienating sounds, and beautiful melodies, creating a musical universe of their own. This excellent and long-awaited rerelease of the 'Tango 'n Vectif' album is almost over-indulgent. The first CD contains the original score, together with the tracks from Mu-Ziq's 12" on R&S, like the brilliant masterpiece 'PHI*1 700 [u/v]'. The second CD contains unreleased tracks, leftovers, and new mixes, which brings the total of tracks to no less than 26. A great package to honour an album that, together with Polygon Window's 'Surfin on Sine Waves', is considered one of the most groundbreaking ever in IDM.
