Volumizer like to keep it simple. Simple doesn't mean it can't be effective. Because effective this record absolutely is. After one listen, you'll be humming along to the songs presented here. Their melodies will burn themselves into your head. You can't get them out of mind. Gaga For Gigi is their debut record, but most members of Volumizer are experienced musicians. Compromised of former members from the Pointed Sisters, U-J3RK5, and the Dishrags, their music is probably best described as bubblegumpunkpop. Clean guitars, nice harmonies, great melodies, and great hooks. One band that pops up in my mind while listening to this record is Blondie. Not only in comparison with the music, but also with the female vocals. The vocals only add to the bubblegum effect, as they sound like they're sung by a kid, which is a little bit strange in the beginning. But when you are used to it, you know it fits perfectly with the songs.
Sometimes Volumizer are also a bit too effective. Like on 'Solo,' which is a ballad so sweet, it would be an enormous attack on your teeth if it wasn't a song, but candy. At the end they try to bring the song to life, but then it is already too late. But, gladly, this song is just an incident. Like I stated at the beginning of this review: Volumizer likes to keep it simple. Sometimes too simple, and also too sweet. But most of the times effective, refreshing, and very charming.
