The very first gig Jonathan Davis, at the age of fifteen, saw, was a band called 'Cradle of Thorns'. Ofcourse Jonathan Davis wouldn't have guessed at that time that years later this band would release an album on his very own record label, Elementree Records. Cradle of Thorns was formed in 1988. After having released several albums and having toured the underground scene of the U.S.A., Cradle of Thorns changed their name to Videodrone. With Videodrone Cradle of Thorns is making a new start; music for the next millennium.
Their new album 'Videodrone' offers 12 songs, influenced by Korn, Orgy and the eighties. But it's too easy to compare Videodrone with these bands. Videodrone are one of those bands who have created their own, unique style. Fieldy (Korn) produced the album, so it's not a surprise that, besides Fred Durst and DJ Lethal, there are guest appearances on this album from Jonathan Davis and Head (Korn). Highlights of this album are 'Pig in a blanket' (with Cypress Hill-like raps, certainly worth a listen!), 'Closer to coma', 'Ty Jonathan down', 'Human Pinata' and 'Faceplant'.
There's also a song on the album that's called 'Jesus (Lord of the Apes)'. This is a cover from a band called L.A.P.D.. which is the former band of Fieldy, Munky and David (Korn), before they joined Korn. This band released an album entitled 'Who's laughing now' in 1991 on Triple X Records, which is also the former record label of Cradle of Thorns. The original 'Jesus (Lord of the Apes)' is on this album.
