Wiooooo-o-wiooooo, Travoltas are back. The pop-punk rock version of the Beach Boys scared the hell out of us with their former album Club Nouveau. On that release, instead of the supermelodious and fast pop songs, they tried some ballads and some synthesizer tunes as well. Maybe it was something the band had to do, but it didn't work out. That's why they're back again, with ten new songs in the best Travoltas style, catchy and crazy, as in a song about their dream girl Liv Tyler: "Hey Liv Tyler, do you want to go out with me?" And tunes about touring, about the good life, about girls, girls, girls. And isn't Norwegian Girl their best song since Waimea?
It isn't hard to understand that Travoltas tried to do something different on the last album. They've made a lot of high quality albums, but for some, unclear reason, they've never really had a breakthrough. Nothing's helped: not working with Joey Ramone, touring in America, living in America, nor the disastrous variety on Club Nouveau. And this time 'round, any new attempts? They first released the album in the USA before their home country Holland. Will it help them? They deserve it, but if real success has held out so far, why would it be a big hit this time? Ah well, a band who calls their album Endless Summer must consist of a bunch of dreamers. So they will never give up hoping for more. And while they're dreaming, we're taking Endless Summer for another spin, because this is Travoltas like we want them to be!
