In the wake of electro-chief Hell going all electro-camp these days, French project Trash Palace apparently were in dire need to revive gothic electro. The result is -rather predictably we reckon- a novelty genre at most. For us, having been feverish goths in our time, only 'The Insult' (with John Cale telling a dirty adolescent story) and the cover of Gainsbourg's 'Je T'aime' (with Asia Argento -we are prejudiced, we know) are tolerable. The rest is funny at most and terrible in most cases. And judging from the lyrical content those Frenchies are still as obsessed with sex as ever. All right with us, but in that case you need to come up with the music to match. And Brian Molko doing his theatrical effeminate vocal acrobatics on 'The Metric System' is an assault on our mental health if there ever was one. Nu-goth, just what we needed. The horror, the horror!
