Tino is a multi-artist from The Hague, the Netherlands. Poetry, prose, lyrics, instruments, production, and artwork conflict for Tino's attention. And for who was wondering about "Hot Fruit Records": 'Cybertech Bottleneck' is the first CD released by Hot Fruit' aka Tino. 'Cybertech Bottleneck' is a 500-copy release. A 500-copy release usually means that the record will gain some attention from the musicians' friends, family, and local following and is only reviewed in obscure fanzines. With Tino, this might not be the case. I don't reckon this record will make him very big, but maybe the second or the third album will. 'Cybertech Bottleneck' consists of twelve very different pop songs that explore the field between commercial pop, alternative pop, techno, lo-fi, folk, and some 15 other styles. Despite the wide variety of music styles, Tino never derails. Opener 'Spread Your Soul' combines cheap rhythms (Commodore?) with techno noise, a flute intermezzo, and a low macho voice. Second track 'Magic Spray' has no techno and no Commodore, but a simple song structure, a lo-fi outlook, and a whining voice. Third song 'Music Man' on the one hand sounds like an early 80s (or late 70s) radio hit; on the other hand it's a song with so many hooks and turns that it is a wonder Tino finds a way to get back to the main theme time after time. Fourth tune 'Humanoid' is what a cooperation (or a crash) of Jesus Jones, Eels, and Youssou N'dour must sound like. Got an idea? And these were only four of Tino's twelve track record. Will the new Beck please stand up?
