Imagine: You're in a relatively unknown band from San Diego, and you've toured with bands like Coal Chamber and Deftones. It's no more than logical that the style of your first album will draw comparisons to those named bands. This, however, does not mean that the public doesn't have to listen to your new album, which is rocking like it should.
Because Wake Of The New Breed by Thought Experiment is very worthwhile listening to. In less than twenty-two minutes, these guys from the U.S. of A. leave your stereoset wanting for more. CD players without a "Repeat" button will have to endure the constant pressing of "Play."
One-third of an hour is all Thought Experiment needs to impress. Take two emotional vocalists who know how to sing, rap, scream and cry; blend with slow, medium, and fast riffs; throw in some funky beats; and stir, for twenty minutes. That's the recipe for Thought Experiment.
What makes Thought Experiment genuine is that it has no superfluous DJ, as infects most (nu-) metal bands nowadays. Thought Experiment is basic, but not stupid. The dark atmosphere on the album, combined with the sincere vocals about life, make Wake Of The New Breed a good album worth more than the twenty minutes it takes to spin it.
