Theo Parrish, still Detroit’s best kept secret, strikes again with two more brilliant cuts that shakily shuffle to Parrish’s unequalled creaking slow groove. ‘You forgot’, the vocal side, imperceptibly lures you into a lazy, bluesy jazz dream you don’t ever want to wake from. Flip to ‘Dirt Rhodes’ which may seem nothing more than distorted Rhodes with a beat at first, but gradually involves you as if finally the much-anticipated imaginary meeting between Jimi Hendrix and Maurizio takes place. An artist to be cherished.
