The Love That Will Guide You Back Home, by the Zephyrs, is an EP from the school of less-is-more, which should only be attended by those with enough patience to let a song reveal its beauty in due time. Those willing and prepared to let the tale unfold will discover four warm and finely crafted, but ever so slight, tracks that, by comparison, make Belle and Sebastian sound like Alice Cooper. There is something secretive about the way these tracks whisper their beauty in your ear. Each time you listen, a little more is revealed. Stand out track 'Obeyessekere' sounds ordinary at first, but after several listens, you'll feel like you're having a morphine-enduced epiphany. It is rather marvelous to think that this effect is achieved by a band who often use no more than a bass, an acoustic guitar, and some Chapterhouse-style vocals. It's a minimalist approach that will certainly not be to everyone's taste, but is a rewarding experience in terms of pure listening pleasure. Just a word of warning, lads: This EP is best listened to alone, not only because of its melancholy character and 2:30 a.m. pace, but also because if your Limp Bizkit-listening friends catch you, they'll think you're a wuss.
