Swiss trio The Young Gods have balanced between dance, metal, industrial, psychedelica and even classical music since the first LP in 1987. With the 1992 album 'TV Sky' the band turned to a more industrial sound. They extended this original mixture of industrial, electronica and metal on their most successful CD till now: 'Only Heaven', released in 1995. After a rather quiet period with The Young Gods and playing in several side-projects (like Al Comet and Heaven Deconstruction) Alain Monod and Franz Treichler recruited Bernard Trontin as a new drummer and started touring Europe again in 98/99. This tour showed that The Young Gods gave more attention to ambient and house and less to the hard guitar-riffs. For people who saw them live at that time 'Second Nature' isn't a surprise. But for the fans that lost sight of them after 'Only heaven' this new album could be an introduction with a renewed Young Gods. Not that they have totally changed, but they focus their attention more on the danceable part of their music. The guitars are still there, but are less prominent and more bedded in as samples. 'Second Nature' is a fog of samples driven by a powerful beat and the typical English/French speech of Franz. Their music is brought in a very original and high-quality way. Sometimes like Underworld, sometimes like Nine Inch Nails, but most of all: very Young Gods!
