Why is it that some bands will never experience a breakthrough? Most of the time it isn't because of the music they make, which is often very good. I think it is because all those bands lack originality; they miss something unique. They don't add something new to the current stream of music. I fear the Kickbacks will, too, be one of those bands. This five-men group was formed in 1996 in Boston. After that, they recorded two albums. Blindside View is the third.
About the music they make: I like it, really, very much. On the record you can experience nice melodies, vocal lines, and a wide range of instruments. Not very much better, but, then again, not very much worse either.
Last year they had their 'one minute of fame' in a 55-second part of the popular TV series Dawson's Creek, in which 'Attic,' from their 1998 album Longitude, was played. And to conclude: I really like the Kickbacks, and I'd really like to see them become more famous, but I fear their fame will not go past a few seconds on a TV series...
