'High Visibility' is the fourth full-length album from Sweden's most famous rock 'n roll band The Hellacopters. On this album they carry on with the style as introduced on their former album 'Grande Rock'. By the time the latter album was released I must say I was a bit disappointed. I liked the sleazy rock 'n roll from 'Supershitty To The Max' and 'Payin' The Dues' (their break-through album). It was quite a big change from 'Payin' The Dues' to 'Grande Rock'. But once you get used to the new sound and start listening to 'High Visibility' with that in mind, it's quite clear that The Hellacopters have delivered a very fine album again. Influences like MC5 and early Rolling Stones are obvious, but their songs are written, arranged (and performed!) so well it just wouldn't be fair to mark that as a disadvantage. 'Payin' The Dues' was an improvement compared with 'Supershitty To The Max', and that's what 'High Visibility' is compared with 'Grande Rock'. Especially Nick's voice has improved a lot. The chorus in 'Hopeless Case Of A Kid In Denial', the first song on the album, makes you wanna sing along even after having heard it only once. It has also become a more varying album with even some acoustic guitar passages in it. I like the new album for sure and being backed up by a major label for the first time I guess The Hellacopters can only become bigger. By the way, The Hellacopters wouldn't be The Hellacopters if there wasn't a bonus track on the vinyl version of 'High Visibility', so if you get the chance, buy it on vinyl!
