The Flaming Sideburns already got the 'Album Title of the Year' Award in the bag with their full-length
debut 'Hallelujah Rock 'n' Rollah'. And in the 'Most Unlikely Line-Up' category they're a frontrunner too:
how many Finnish-Argentinan bands do you know?
And what about the music? It's from Scandinavia, it's on Bad Afro, it's called 'Hallelujah Rock 'n'
Rollah': this can only be 100% top quality retro-rock. Like labelmates The Chronics, The Flaming Sideburns
deal in late sixties rock with a heavy Rolling Stones influence. Each song seems to be written as a
potential single, keeping everything tight (the longest song is just over four minutes) so the tracks keep
their punch.
And these guys don't only know how to rock at high speed; in fact they're at their best when they slow
down, like in the poppy 'Flowers' where singer Eduardo Martinez does his best Lou Reed, the twangy
'Stripped Down' or the spagetthi western rock of 'Lonesome Rain'.
The Flaming Sideburns aim with this album for 'World Domination'. Chart domination should be feasible if
everyone who pays to see the Stones would do themselves a favour and buy this album for the less than half
the money.
