The Cherry Valence make '70s hard rock, Aerosmith/Raging Slab-style. The basics are there, but on Riffin', the band fails to create memorable songs. Only closing track Dressed In Purple Blues sticks; its nine predecessors go in one ear, out the other. With the current boom in bands that play traditional rock, The Cherry Valence is doomed to remain an opening act of one of its better competitors. One of those acts of which, after two songs, you think you might have made a new discovery, but find yourself at the bar halfway through the fourth song.
