You can have too much of a good thing. Full speed, balls to the wall punk rock turns out to be one of them on Denmark's The Burnouts sophomore effort, 'Close To Breakevil'. While just over 27 minutes long, the album is just too long. The Burnouts put the pedal to the metal on the first track 'Bad Blood' and only let go of it after 'Shake Your Butt', track 12 (the vinyl version has, of course, a bonus track, a cover of Sonic Youth's '100%'). Which makes 'Close To Breakevil' just as exhausting as e.g. The Dirtys' legendary cocaine soaked 'You Should Be Sinnin'' or The Hives' 'Barely Legal'. And in between killers such as 'Just Like You', 'You Lose' and 'Baby, Let's Dance' there is a whole bunch of tracks that is just ok. The production is very dry, but also on the thin side. All these factors combined make that 'Close To Breakevil', like certain South American export products, is best consumed in small quantities.
