The Brooklyn Cowboys are the real thing. You might not have heard of them yet, but the names of these superbly talented musicians included here should start ringing some bells for fans of country music. Singer and songwriter Walter Egan is best known for his Seventies hit 'Magnet And Steel' and 'Hearts On Fire', which he perfectly wrote for Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. Sticking close to the original on Gram Parsons's milestone 'Grievous Angel', 'Hearts On Fire' is also performed by The Brooklyn Cowboys on their debut album 'Doin' Time On Planet Earth'. Brooklyn Cowboy and singer/songwriter Joy Lynn White, who has a successful career in country music as a solo artist, accompanies Walter Egan on vocals. Bass player Michael Supa worked with The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, and than there is Buddy Cage, who did some time in New Riders Of The Purple Sage and is the man behind the pedal steel. Jeff David is of one of the original members of the Grammy Award-winning group The Amazing Rhythm Aces, and Michael Webb worked with Stacey Earle. The legendary Al Perkins, who has worked with The Rolling Stones, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and many others, excellently produced all of this high-energy honky tonk from The Brooklyn Cowboys. The list of guest appearances and legendary performers on The Brooklyn Cowboys' 'Doin' Time On Planet Earth' is endless.
Their excellent debut album successfully combines today's Americana with The Flying Burrito Brothers- and Gram Parsons-influenced Sixties country rock. The Brooklyn Cowboys are definitely a band that you don't want to miss when they play at the famous Blue Highways festival in the Netherlands.
