Out of the vaults of a concrete jungle, there comes a punk rock band called The Apers, with a lineup of Kevin Apers on vocals and bass, Marien Nicotine on guitar, Ivo Backbreaker on drums, and Jerry Hormone on guitar. Here on their first full-length album The Apers showcase to have an ear for melodic pop songs, and proof that writing good songs is first a matter of counting till three. From punk rock city Rotterdam, with a nostalgic touch and very few slow moments, The Apers keep things rockin' throughout the 12 songs on this release. Well, never mind the teenage poetry on a few tracks such 'Eyes Open Wide', 'Only The Grim Reapers', 'Evi', and 'One Million Love Songs (This One's For You)', but it seems quite like it that even this bunch of cool guys feel lonely and fall in love now and then. Having said that, isn't falling in love a better thing to do than trying to change the world with a pop song? Another strange thing about this CD is that you constantly have the feeling that The Apers will show up with a cover from The Ramones, but the funny thing is that they just won't do it. Forget it, overall this disc contains some really fast, melodic punk rock songs - and it pretty much spanks arse.
