Nowadays, it seems that everyone wants to work digitally. This may mean that you will get in 2.5 megabyte files as attachments. This is no problem when you are working digitally, but when you're still working with the good old analogue systems (like me) and you download your email via your telephone line, you will have started to hate these kind of attachments more and more. I don't know if The American Analog Set from Austin, Texas, share my troubles with big attachments, but they seem to be troubled with computers taking over our lives. The motto of the record is, "we're computerizing, and we just don't need you anymore." Not a message to make you cheerful. Fortunately, this does not apply to 'Know by Heart' - a lo-fi pop/rock record with some songs. Opening song 'Punk as Fuck' has a nice melody and features harmonious voice parts and backing vocals. 'The Only One' continues in this style, while 'Lie Foxes Through Fences' is an uptempo instrumental with a nervous riff. The remainder of the songs are like the first two: nice, relaxed, and laid back, slower than usual. Simple, but not too simple, and with harmonies and good singing. Extremely pleasant music while getting to sleep, waking up, or while dozing on your couch.
