This is the debut album by The Alpha Conspiracy an electronic dance act that fuses electro with IDM and trip hop. Besides that there are also some 80’s synthpop traces to found in their mix. The result is a very good and quite original mix of dance music with
warm, and at times, emotional charged sounds and melodies.
The music might be moody and melancholy at times
but never gets dark or gloomy. Some tracks feature
treated vocals, but only in places where they contribute to the whole. The songs are cleverly programmed and have smart structures. Some IDM acts might forget that they
make dance music and lose themselves in (astonishing) structures. This is not the case with The Alpha Conspiracy. Their songs feature original structures but are always dancefloor friendly.
One of the best tracks is Cross Product a moody triphop song that opens the album and catches the listeners attention immediately. Another excellent song is Skeptopotamus, a slightly psychedelic electro triphop song. Probably the best track on this release is Morphic, a clever electro dance track with a great atmosphere. This song is a bit reminiscent of the contemporary Haujobb sound and could easily
compete with songs from their Polarity album.
The Alpha Conspiracy display some excellent musical skills and programming on their debut album. The quality of the songs is very high and the music quite original. This album proves this is an act to be reckoned with in the future.
