The name of the ensemble kind of spoke to me. I love contemporary music, and that music is often performed by groups with names like this. But after hearing this record I don't know wether I have to be dissapointed or annoyed. In any way, it doesn't make the album any better. Fact is that the classical compositions here sound pretentious, unoriginal, simplistic and bombastic. And to make the story complete, the instrumentation is not that convincing either. Eric D. Morrison, not only composer but also pianist in this ensemble, hasn't written a single piece that sounds interesting enough to keep the attention longer than a minute. His compositions are much too sweet and too naïve. The production is flat and boring, and due to that production the instruments sound as if they were provided by a cheap synthesizer, especially the French horn. Maybe I just don't get the composer's intention. That intention doesn't become any clearer by reading the website or the cd booklet. It looks so pretentious, I can hardly take it seriously. But, if it is a joke, I don't see the humour, and if it isn't, they'd better not released this music in the first place.
