Totally no hesitation but a gun pointed straight at your head. That's the kick-start of Swedish Selfmindead on 'The Oslo Compact' ep. Unfortunately only three songs can drag you into a hardcore scream stream and give you the vibes. Selfmindead creates a noise with an incredible hoarse voice surrounded by metal influenced instruments. With the help of their music they show you how their big balls are. And that's huge!! 'Dirty Hands', 'Constant Continuation' and 'Close Your Eyes' are three brilliant songs.
After the last song mentioned The Spirit That Guides Us has the honour to finish this ep with three other songs. TSTGU is the Dutch pride with just a bit more emotion in their music. More emo than Selfmindead. You can also read the review of TSTGU's first full-length album on this site. All three songs present on the ep are previously unreleased tracks except for 'The Spirit Anthem', of which the original version can be found on the full-length album. One minor thing about the ep is the big gap between Selfmindead and TSTGU. Two totally different music styles on one cd. But it's still a good possibility to explore the different scenes.
If this small ep did not satisfy you because of the small offer of songs you'd better check Selfmindead's 'At The Barricades We Fall' and The Spirit That Guides Us' 'The Sand, The Barrier'.
