Scumbucket is Germany's answer to (ex-Soundgarden drummer) Matt Cameron's band Wellwater Conspiracy. Which means psychedelic '60s pop with space rock and noise edges. All song titles are in Spanish, all lyrics are in (a sort of) English, and all material is of German quality. But that doesn't make Aficionados a good album, for the same good song 14 times in a row gets boring after a while. The tempos and timbres of the songs don't vary enough, and singer Kurt Ebelhäuser has a limited range. And at the end of the album there are three instrumental tracks, of which two don't add anything to the album. Strangely enough, Wellwater Conspiracy suffers from a lot of the same problem. And then there are those Spanish song titles. I'd prefer a more diverse sound, which, considering the talent the band showcases, should be no problem for them, beyond such gimmicks.
