Scorn once was the guise that made Mick Harris a leading figure in the dark ambient dub scene of the early nineties. Three years ago the ex-Napalm Death drummer put Scorn on ice to concentrate on other projects. Now, totally out of the blue, there's this 'Imaginaria Award' ep, a teaser for a new Scorn album due this autumn. Five tracks, but only 'Out of the Picture', 'Lock' and 'Worried' are worthwile. 'Lock' is a sort of repetitive slowed down drum and bass track, with sounds that could've been sampled off an 'Ed Rush and Optical' track played at the wrong speed. But most impressive track is the opener 'Out of the picture' (what's in a name). Incredibily agressive, dark and a pounding awkward beat that makes you wanna headbang all night. 'Worried' sounds like more of the same, but all in all a good buy for die-hard fans.
