Robert Hood's first-ever release for Peacefrog couldn't possibly be a bad record. But it isn't full of what you'd call surprises either. The title track unearths yet more of those endless Untitled variations displaying the jerky half-melodies and friendly cerebral abstractions that fit the Minimal King's standards of sparse elements, tight rhythm, and slick programming. Flip side True Enemies False Friends is a little bit more of a dance floor pounder in the Waveform Transmissions style, with a tension-mounting jump chord and fitting breakdowns-and-climaxes promising to do damage in a typical Dave Clark set. So nothing wrong at all with this platter. But it's far from being innovating techno.
