To be able to get the idea behind a hardcore band, it's always best to see them live. Both the message and energy only come across when you see the people in the band, their ability to prove themselves onstage, and the reactions from the crowd. Let's take Sick Of It All, as an example. They've delivered quite a few excellent albums. Not one of them could even get close to their live act, for which the band is known all over the world.
Is it nearly impossible to capture the true spirit of hardcore on an album? Raised Fist proves us wrong. Holy mother of god, this is a force to be reckoned with! Dedication drives the pointer so far into red, you're on the verge of losing your orientation. Within ten seconds, you forget the mediocre production of RF's previous releases. It doesn't matter whether the band plays an up-tempo song like 'Get This Right!' or a beatdown riff featured in 'Message Beneath Contempt'; there's never a decline in aggression. Huge-sounding guitars and the venomous screams of singer Alle take this CD to the top level. A metal production with a hardcore feel.
Raised Fist mean business. To put it in Alle's words: "It's not about a cool website / When will you get this right? / It's not a fanatic rite / It's only a name in the theatre light / It's not about acting like a rock star at night / Dedication is essential to succeed." This is Europe's answer to New York hardcore.
