Some rock bands just want to turn up the volume and party really hard. Raging Slab is no exception. They’ll punch you in the face with a monstrous wall of blasting guitars and boogie grooves. Above all, Raging Slab stand for pretty dumb rock music, but the way they do that Southern rock boogie thing is some kind of fun too, with influences from metal and punk music.
Moving forward by looking back. It’s an attempt to recapture the simplicity of unpolished 70’s hard rock, which explains why they dress up like a bunch of though looking rednecks and the new album title Pronounced Eat Shit refers to the Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1973 debut album Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd.
Raging Slab may have released better albums (Assmaster and that self-titled record from 1989 for example) in the past, but they could have done a lot worse here. Recorded entirely at their Slabbey Road Studio on their Pennsylvania farm, Pronounced Eat Shit contains some filler and the vocals are mixed far in the background, but the 70’s blues-rock spirit still lives on in Raging Slab.
