After Orgy's smashing debut 'Candyass' the second album is always crucial. Can they keep their quality and originality presented on their first album? Like their labelmates Videodrone on Korn's label Elementree, Orgy mixes nu-metal and 80's wave into metal for the future. They did this successfully on 'Candyass' and received many great reviews and attention by the media. That this format was interesting for a bigger audience proves this CD. Orgy wants to take their metal to a more popular level. This results in a few good songs, which have the power to sell. 'Opticon', 'Fiction (Dreams in Digital)' and 'Eva' are songs that could even be hits. But the rest of the songs are mediocre compared to the before mentioned songs. Especially the last four or five songs are bloodless, not convincing and do not have a spark. It looks like Orgy tried too hard to recreate the success they had with 'Candyass' and were focussing on a few good and saleable songs and therefore forgot the whole album. Next to a few really good songs, there are too many uninspired songs on 'Vapor Transmission' to really convince. Nice for the fans, but a little bit disappointing for those who were really charmed by their originality.
