The German Bungalow label has been putting out weird music for years. Music that suddenly has the attention of the cultural early adaptors and obscure lifestyle magazines because weird is hip in this contemporary cultural landscape. Under these circumstances, Mina would be the hippest of hip. Their 80s-referring mixture of exciting electronic and cool, wave-like guitar work sounds exactly right in a fully-designed London apartment. But Mina is more than that. In fact, these three boys and a girl form Berlin made an interesting album. 'A To B' refers directly to 70s krautrock, 80s electro, and 90s post-rock. Beautiful landscapes of songs consisting of layers of synths, slow-grooving and sometimes freaking basses, noise guitars, and - most important of all - some dominant analogue keyboards and synthesizers that give that typical not-of-this-era feel. As if post-rockers Trans Am would travel into the magical world of Tangerine Dream and Can.
