Looper | Mondo '77

No longer attached to Belle and Sebastian, it was Stuart David's desire to concentrate his time on Looper and on his writing (his excellent novel 'Nalda Said' was published last year). Let's hope 'Mondo '77' is a sign of things to come. A slightly distorted and cheap Casio riff, accompanied by nervous and urgent cries (supplied - nonetheless - by Francis MacDonald, formerly a BMX Bandit) herald the new release by Looper. Backed with a Banana Hand remix of 'These Things' - featuring actual sung vocals - 'Mondo '77' is a pure and serious contender for Summer Party Song of the Year. Add some surprising intruding ska horns, and Looper will be giving - no, really! - Fatboy Slim a run for his money. Wow.
