This untitled black label from brothers-in-arms Layo and Mr. B just before the end of this vintage year copyright will only re-enforce the platform these boys are creating for their next album. For this is a slice of groovy tech-house that won't easily be looked over. Starting off with the regular dark-sphered early acid-house underscored by somber imperative sounding vocals and fueled with some of the finest percussion this guaranteed peak-hour dancefloorblast breaks down into a Joy Division-style bassline that gradually unfolds into a soundscape that can only be described as warped and wouldn't be out of place on the soundtrack of, for example, Blade Runner. This wee heaven then turns into certified bliss by means of a more-than-cheeky pianoloop even more increasing the apotheosis that is about to follow. Later on this jewel breaks down again to allow a soulful voice ˆ la Deep South to wrap up the proceedings. If you can imagine The Doors getting in the studio with Carl Craig then this is your record.
