Kung Pao | Bogota

Fuckin' mean, brutish rock! That's what I can tell you about "Bogota", the latest release of New York City rockers Kung Pao. They released a split 7" with Tucker earlier on Maduro Records, "Bogota" was also released on this label and on this album these 3 guys put down a very rude and heavy sound. It reminds me a bit of Alabama Thunder Pussy, another rude rockin' band, but ATP is quite decent compared with Kung Pao (not meaning to say anything negative about Alabama Thunder Pussy). And with lyrics like in "We Got Limo" and "Hootie World" the raw boys from Kung Pao show that they are able to give their music a funny turn as well. Maybe that would make you think that they might not take their music seriously, but everything is performed very well. I suppose "Bogota" is an album made by 3 men who like drinking beer, smoking cigarettes, nice ladies and, of course, rocking, as hard as possible!
