There has never been a more aptly titled CD compilation. Ever. Joey and Norman Jay, two brothers holding down the fort at London's annual Notting Hill Carnival, are back with the second installment of the Good Times series. Offering some tasty morsels of disco, soul, funk and house, the boys know how to rock a party. Just don't be surprised to see the retirement home set shaking their walkers to the beats alongside younger folks. The first disc contains some absolute soul and disco gems, such as Gladys Knight & The Pips' 'Bourgie Bourgie' and The O'Jays' 'For the Love of Money'. The disco classic, 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' takes on a slightly different shape with Inner Life feat. Jocelyn Brown's working of it, but with no less euphoric results. Brown lends her voice to another track, 'It's Alright, I Feel It' by Nuyorican Soul and remixed by the Masters at Work. This hard-thumping track features her voice over chopped up beats and showcases a lovely splash of keyboard ramblings. The second disc has a more contemporary focus and updates the classic party vibe with modern hits. Wookie's 'Scrappy' adds a rough-and-tumble two-step flair, Nitin Sawhney contributes an ethereal drum n' bass tune, 'Breathing Light', and UMC's 'One to Grow On' is a warm, funk-infused classic hip hop trip. Definitely a CD set that will bring a smile to even the most bloodless out there, Joey and Norman prove why the Good Times Sound System remains one of the most popular in the carnival after over 20 years.
