Sometimes all it takes to get hooked are a few seconds of good music. That's what happened to a lot of music fans after having downloaded their first InMe song off the Internet. The Essex band has been one of the most frequently downloaded bands on Audiogalaxy and mp3.com this past summer. Now, it's time the rest of the world gets to know these young lads.
InMe's first official single is called Underdose and was released in Europe prior to debut album, entitled Overgrown Eden. Both musically and lyrically, this band is probably best described as sounding like a vague mix of Nirvana and early Silverchair. But leaving it at that would be selling the boys short, because they're not just another one of those grungy bands forgotten within a half a year. Dave McPherson, Joe Morgan, and Simon Taylor are young (18 and 19 years old) but manage to convey an incredible depth to their music. As for the lyrics, it's all bleak and rather depressing. Though singer McPherson insists all the references to death and suicide shouldn't be taken too literally, according to him, a lot of the songs are about changing oneself. Underdose seems to be about a love affair gone terribly wrong. McPherson refuses to explain the exact meaning, but admits the lyrics "It's all gone wrong / You've killed me" refer to an actual death. The Underdose single has two added tracks. Gelosea and Ruins function as yet two more appetizers for the album. Excuse me, while I grab my bike and head for my local record store . . .
