One of the best crossover-album ever is Incubus' album 'S.c.i.e.n.c.e.'. Recently this band released the successor to that album, called 'Make yourself'. A very good album, but I don't like it as much as I liked 'S.c.i.e.n.c.e.'. Why? Just because the fantastic blend of different styles that was on 'S.c.i.e.n.c.e.' is missing on this album. This isn't really a crossover album, but more it is a poprock-album. It's a good album and Brandon Boyd proves he's one of the best singers in the world, but where is that mix of styles? Only songs as 'Privilege' and 'Pardon me' are songs that wouldn't be out of place on the S.c.i.e.n.c.e.-album. Well, perhaps it's the 'Sugar Ray-effect'; Sugar Ray also released one of the best crossover-albums ever (Lemonade and Brownies, 1995), but the successors to that album ('Floored', and their latest release '14:59') lost the blend of styles and got more and more 'poppy'. Hopefully Incubus isn't getting more 'poppy' anymore in the near future, as the band was a good substitute for the 'too poppy' Sugar Ray.
