'People seem to spend more and more time recording albums, but we don't feel that albums are really getting any better... They're just more work.' Now that's a statement! It's made by HGH, the hobby band from Norwegian musicians Haugen (Hellbillies), Gebhardt (Motorpsycho), and Hagfors (Home Groan). And, for the music they're making, it is the right attitude. Don't expect any Motorpsychodelic influences, this is a splendid mixure between pure folk, country and bluegrass. And they recorded it somewhere in an old log cabin live with one mic, within 2 days! Don't let these facts scare you, this is the way that this music needs to be treated: no worries, no difficulties, no hustling or bustling, just straight forward, honest music. And made with real love and passion, and with such joy that it is almost impossible not to sing along, clap your hands, tap your feet, or (after some beers) dancing on your kitchentable! Gebhardt, Motorpsycho's drummer, has to be the most active and productive man in today's music: the man not only released a Motorpsycho album (and recorded yet another one), he also released his own experimental solo ep (Gebhardt...playing with himself), and now this... Here he plays banjo, saw, citterharp, guitar and ukulele (not a single drumbeat on this album), and together with fellow multi-instrumentalists Haugen and Hagfors he also produces some beautiful harmony vocals. This is Americana as it should be... Their last line in the booklet: 'Yep, we'd like to do it again...'. Let's hope it will be real soon.
