Morr Music is definitely on a roll. After the release of the excellent compilation Putting the Morr back in Morrissey the Berlin based label now presents a full length album by veterans Christian Kleine and Thaddeus Herrmann. And it became a very intimistic or even introspective album. Kleine has already done a lot of solo work, released on Morr Music and the British/German City Centre Offices label. And those are fine reference points to describe the sound of Hermann und Kleine. Our Noise, the successor of the very fine Kickboard Girl EP, is a mixture of deep soundscapes and crackling beats where analog sounds are weaven through digital minimalism. Like in the excellent opening track Drop, where a very simple guitar loop is combined with dreamy sounds creating a warm and melancholic atmosphere. The same recipe is used for Her Tune, but this time Hermann und Kleine throw in a breakbeat over a simple piano tune. The two producers nicely divide the work, with Hermann creating very sophisticated beats and Kleine providing the beautiful sounds. And it's that juxtaposition of clicks 'n cuts beats and dreamy waves that makes this album so impressive. Just listen to Shuttle, a very mysterious track where the minimal percussion is gradually distorted while beautiful waves and a dreamy voice turn you into a dream state. Again an impressive release from the offices of Mr. Morr.
