This Hefner live album isn't an official release, but you can order it on the Too Pure website. The reason why it isn't an official one is because they simply tossed in songs from different shows on the record: from Scotland to Belgium, and from Holland to the USA. In this case, different shows also means different forms of sound quality. Some are just very good, but, e.g., The Hymn For The Coffee has got a horrible garage sound. Then why put this on the album? Some good choices are God Protect Your Home and an intimate version of Alan Bean, the only bearable song from the horrible Dead Media album (hands off them synths, boys). But why leave the intro with the Dutch comments on? It's very easy to cut it. The collection of songs on Kick Snare Hats Ride seems too much a random choice. Why don't essentials like The Hymn For The Cigarettes and The Sweetness Lies Within appear on the album? Of course, you can hear that Hefner made some interesting songs and is also a truly good live band. But instead of presenting it on this album, it's better to give a complete live show with a constant sound quality. The fans will find this release interesting, but when you really want to enjoy Hefner, do listen to their first two albums, Breaking God's Heart and The Fidelity Wars, with which they built up a firm name, with their seductive Pavement/Weezer-pop.
