It's becoming kind of a habit, but here are three more excellent releases from Swedish maestro Lidbo. About a year and a half ago he popped out of the fertile Scandinavian soil and ever since he's been hitting us, almost on a weekly basis, with more music than we can keep pace with. One is inclined to stay watchful with such a prolific fella, but to be honest: Hakan takes the trophy home three straight times in row.
The most danceable cut on the Fiji release is 'Early Riser', another tech-funker fueled-up with his own special brand of blazing Detroit beauty, but he takes down the plane for excursions in downtempo land as well (the titletrack easily fits the average Compost or Svek profile) and the discofiltermadness approach isn't shunned either as the crazy filtered vocals of the pumped-up 'Fill me up' and the very kitschy 'Wait for me' happily will testify.
On 'Home cookin' the Brazilian flavours du jour are infused with outrageously ecstatic disco effects on 'Brazil 2001', but on 'Blackmail' he ventures into dark dub, while 'Dois Homens E Um Quiedo' takes out the distorted Spanish guitars to add more spice to the party. This wonderful 4-tracker is concluded with his own typical brew of latenight deephouse and funky acidloops on 'Good Manners', which manieristically toys with a few jazzy keys and lets the trumpet go all wailing and bluesy to fittingly wrap up proceedings.
'More facts', on the intensely prolific Force Inc. subsidiary Force Tracks is more tech-house orientated. Here it is the titletrack that will blow the holes: high doses of funk, electro and acid get perpetrated by one of those fantastic Derrick May style Computer Soul outbursts. On the flip 'No U-Turn' gets the Jedi Knights-treatment as the sweet vocoders take you on another perfectly produced acid-tinged deephouse journey. Three times bingo from a man you can rely on.
