I guess it's time to get worried. Because in 2000 we received a demo from Gloriz Jim, and we were stunned. Finely-arranged pop songs that make you want more and more, with well-balanced vocals by Jeroen Pelgrom, Roel Jorna, and Patrick Tersteeg. Very original and even a classic on the demo (!): 'Leave You Sleeping'.
So what is the reason to be worried? A young band who is capable of putting such high-quality songs on a single demo should immediately get a contract and time to work the songs out, with room to experiment. Unfortunately, even during the former hypes, where the basic guitar-and-drum sound was prominent again, the band had to release their next demo themselves and send it around once more.
The (once again titleless) demo starts with the marching drums by Klaas Douwe Miedema on 'Je Brûle... (De Partout)', and the guest appearance by Tom Swart on accordion creates a loose French atmosphere. The sharp and plucking guitar play proceeds on 'Sun Tattoo' and shows how the band can still give a studio-recorded song a vivid live sound. The acoustic 'Super...' starts promisingly with the catchy singing, but lacks a fitting refrain. But lyrics like "she will read it in my letter / if I only could write" and the constant threat and change of acceleration after easy parts on 'Feigning Devotion' makes for another highlight in the history of a young unsigned Dutch band.
Now it's time for a full-length album. Anyone? One sold copy guaranteed.
