Barbara Manning may be the female voice of indie rock but she knows how to be fruity as well. I mean that in the best way possible. Together with Seymour Glass of Bananafish fame (or is that notoriety?) she released this sonic gem. 'Northern Exposure Will Be Right Back' isn't a *proper* record, more a collection of recording done over the years. Some of the guests walking in and out of this record are Dead C's Michael Morley, the Thinking Fellers, Holy Mountain Gods. Collages of tape loops, screaming 'n' coughing cats, a fucked up fridge, birthday party chatter,... it's all here. But it is all glued together by the voice and guitarplaying of Barbara. Also included in the package is a sweet cover of the Beegees' Run To Me recorded with her sister in 1979 and a live recording of her old band 28th Day. It's like taking a peek in the world of Manning and Glass which can only be rewarding.
